The Super Bowl spread is the talk of the town nowadays and while everyone is looking forward to the Peyton Manning-Drew Brees showdown, that’ still over a week away. For now, here’s a look at the Detroit Red Wings-Nashville Predators contest on Friday night. Nashville Predators @ Detroit Red Wings Bookmaker Odds (Bookmaker Reviews): Red Wings -145 What has happened to the Detroit Red Wings? Normally, it’s at this point in the year that they are in first place in the Western Conference and are destroying their competition. Instead, the Red Wings are barely in the playoffs and are on the verge of losing a season-high fourth straight game. They’ll have a chance to end that skid against another team that is having trouble. The Predators are one step ahead of the Red Wings and have lost five straight. The Red Wings are just riddled with injuries and just aren’t the team they used to be. An Olympic break might help them find their feet, but overall, this just isn’t the powerhouse they used to be – at least for this year. Goaltending and defense are the issues, so they’ll look to address that in the offseason. Overall, Preds goalie Pekka Rinne is 4-1-1 with a 2.31 GAA against Detroit in his last six so look for the Preds to pull this one out.
